This is one of M.K. Escher's strange and beautiful pieces of art. Note that there appears to be a continuous stream of lizards emerging from and returning to the paper. Mouse over the image for more information.

Top of the Bottle

This area is the source of the magic fluid which allows the lizards to this magic trick. Some art historians argue that the bottle is full of some sort of unusual ink while others argue that it certainly must be a potion that allows artists to draw strange things. Note the empty glass which supports the latter hypothesis.

Out of the Paper

Here the lizards clamber out of the paper making a giant sucking sound as the paper closes behind them. An unusual act of physics, rarely seen outside of the laboratory, the lizards appear to have no problem pulling themselves up onto the book without needing a solidification period.

Blow Steam

How are the lizards able to breathe normally after such a long period of being encased in paper? The mystery of clearly functioning lungs is even more curious if you think about the fact that none of the currently running around lizards can blow clouds of steam anyway. Could these be baby dragons instead? If so, where can I get some?

Back in the Paper

Notice that now they go quietly, quietly back into the paper. No complaints, no whining about how dry and still it is in there. Do they all get to come back out again? How often? So many questions!!!!!
